The legal framework
Since 2 August 2026, the transparency obligations under Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — the European AI Act — have applied. Among other things, they require deep fakes to be labelled and AI-generated text to be disclosed where it informs the public on matters of public interest and has not undergone human review.
For ordinary company content such as ours, the regulation does not mandate such labelling — and our content goes through human review with editorial responsibility anyway. We disclose regardless. Voluntarily, because we believe it is the right thing to do.
For labelling we use the official icons of the European Commission — not a symbol of our own making, but the European standard. Images generated entirely with AI additionally carry the note “Image created with AI” directly on the image.
